A Silver Lining

DVR

While I was upset that I erased the entire contents of my DVR the other night, there is a silver lining.  The free space.  I’m kind of a DVR Dictator around my house.  My wife has learned to live with it, and she now realizes that we have many more hours of regular recording space than we do HD recording space.  She is good about realizing which shows should be recorded in HD and and which shows should not.  As a matter of fact she’s better about it than I am.

Of course anything live will always be recorded in HD, but aside from that where do you draw the line?  Should single camera shows, i.e. sitcoms be recorded in HD?  What about Dramas where is there is little to no action?  See my dilemma?  I”m sure I’m not the only one out there with this problem.  What warrants HD?

For my shows and my wife’s shows, if it’s available in HD then it gets recorded in HD. My kid’s shows and Oprah get recorded on the 7 year-old TiVo.
