And Then There Were Two… It All Ends Tomorrow Night

American Idol

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for this season of American Idol to be over.  I know it’s only been on for a few months, but American Idol is a commitment.  First you have to endure those painful auditions that seemingly go on forever, only to get to the competition.  Maybe it’s the fact that it ’s on at least twice a week is what makes it such a commitment.  All that said, I still love Idol, especially once it gets down to the Top 12, or Top 13 as the case was this year.  This week should be good.  Not only do we get to find out who wins this thing, we also get two pretty good shows.  The top 12 will come back and perform and the two finalists will sing their hearts out, not that they need to, but more on that later.  I’m still hoping for an appearance by Tatiana Del Toro.  Admit it, you are too.IDOLFIX_SU_C_^_ARTISTS

Well we are now down to the last week, and the final 2.  It’s an epic battle.  The soulful acoustic family man rocker versus the screeching flamboyant David Bowie-esque glam rocker.  krisadam

The more and more I think about this I think it is anyone’s game.  A few weeks ago I would have 01_adam_lamberttold you that no one was going to beat Adam Lambert.  I also would have told you that there was no chance that Danny Gokey wouldn’t be in the final 2 with him.  So that shows what I know.

Today if you ask me, I think that Kris Allen is going to pull an upset and win this whole thing.  Here’s why I think so.  Kris and Adam are polar opposites in terms of their style and in terms of their fan base.  I don’t think that there are a lot of voters that are truly split on who they are going to vote for.  I’m sure there are some out there, but they are a very small minority.  For the majority of us, as I said last week, it doesn’t matter how these two perform tonight.  We’ve made up our minds who we are voting for.  So it all comes down to who has more fans, right?  Sort of.  What about all those people like my wife who have been pulling for Danny Gokey from the start?  Who are they going to vote for?  I think Kris Allen is going to pull in most of those votes.  Gokey fans will vote for Kris Allen, and that’s what going to push Kris over the edge and allow him to win this thing.

So there it is.  My prediction.  I’ve guessed it right every night since Michael Sarver went home.  Put your money on Kris, because tomorrow night he’s walking out a winner.kris0408

I hope you’re right! It makes sense, though. The type that liked Gokey are not likely to also like Adam, you know? Kris is more their style.

I’ve been thinking the same thing for two weeks. Once Allison was voted off, there was no question about Danny’s votes going to Kris or Kris’ votes going to Danny. It’s a shame to think that the talent of the singers is such a small part of the vote, but that’s the way this show has always been. I think that Adam Lambert is the first truly gifted singer that this show has ever found, but I still don’t see how he can win at this point. I’ll be voting for him, though.

You think Gokey fans are going to vote for Adam over Kris? I guess we will see tomorrow night?
