Over the past few weeks shows have been coming to an end. I wanted to wait for them all to be over before I rated the finales. Well it looks like most of them are over so here is JoeOnTheTube’s Finale Ratings.
- The Tudors- No big surprises here. Henry is tired of another wife and finds a new object for his affection. Any student of history knows that he’s only got two more women in his life, which is good since this show ends next season. No big moments in the finale, it seemed like just another episode. Final Grade: C+
- Party Down- Party Down became one of my favorite new shows of the season. It was smart
and quirky with a great ensemble cast. Party Down had two problems, it was on Starz and it was on Friday nights. With both of these things working against it, I think we are lucky that it’s coming back for another season. The final episode was a bit of a let down for me. This show has always been a little dark, but damn the last episode was a downer. The great big bright spot was the lovely Kristen Bell who ran the rival catering company Valhalla Catering. Here’s to hoping she comes back next season. Final Grade: B - Lost- I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to judge individual episodes of Lost, which is why DarinIsLost handles the Lost posting duties around here. That being said, I really enjoyed the last episode of Lost this season. We learned some big things. We saw Jacob for the first time. We learned that Locke really is dead. And we saw Jughead blow up. Of course now we have all sorts of new questions without answers, which I’d say is pretty par for the course as far as Lost goes. Final Grade: B+
- How I Met Your Mother- Anyone who reads this blog knows that How I Met Your Mother is one of my favorite shows on TV. Heck, I even have Robin Sparkle’s “Let’s Go To The Mall” as
my ring tone. HIMYM is one of the funniest, most clever shows on TV right now. I wish I could say that the season finale was that way to, but it wasn’t. In my opinion it was one of the weakest episodes this season. We did see the return of the goat, but it seems like it was so long ago that the goat made his first appearance that it just wasn’t funny anymore. One of the things that makes this show so great is it’s non-linear story telling that it uses in many of it’s episodes. Unfortunately we didn’t get any of that in this episode. Final Grade: C - 24- This season of 24 was strong for about 20 hours in my opinion, and then the last 4 hours fell flat on it’s face. The coincidences just seemed to happen to often and the leaps of faith the audience were expected to take were just too big. Of course Jack saved the world again, but this time he’s on his death bed. Of course we know he will be ok, because they’ve already announced he’s coming back next year to save New York City. Final Grade: D-
- The Big Bang Theory- This is one of those shows that I didn’t think would make it past the first season. Now it’s something I look forward to every week. In the final episode the guys agree to accompany Sheldon to the Arctic Circle for research. The entire episode is spent preparing for the journey. Leonard hopes that Penny will express her true feeling for him and ask him not to go. She does express her feeling, just not to Leonard. Maybe it’s time to put these two together for real and see what happens. Final Grade: B
- Scrubs- I don’t know how fair it is to compare Scrubs to the other shows on this list, because
this episode was originally filmed as a Series Finale as opposed to a Season Finale, although in the end it looks like there will be one more season of Scrubs after all. Let’s pretend it’s not coming back for a second though. I’ve been wanting to write about this episode for a while now because it was so good. I can’t think of many more shows that ended as well as Scrubs did. I really feel like it came full circle. I even enjoyed the flash forward to the future, a move which I think fails much more often than it works. I’m curious how the show will come back after they ended things so well, but I’m also excited to watch them try. Final Grade: A+ - Parks and Recreation: I think I’m done with Parks and Recreation. I really wanted to love this show, I really did. In the end it just came across as a bad rip-off of The Office with Amy Poehler being so awkward it was uncomfortable to watch. Aziz An3sari and Rashida Jones are the only positive things about the show. The finale was almost unwatchable. I can’t believe that NBC is bringing this show back. Final Grade: F
- The Office- I’ve already reviewed the final Episode of The Office right here in depth so I won’t go into it again. Final Grade: B-
- 30 Rock- Honestly, is there a bad episode of 30 Rock? I don’t think so. 30 Rock went old school and brought out guest stars galore for their season finale. Great ending to a great season. Final Grade: A-
