It’s that time of year where the traditional network TV season is ending and the networks are deciding which shows to bring back in the fall. There are a few that I’m excited about so I’m going to mention them. For a full run-down of everything that’s coming back check out The Aussiello Files’ list here.
- Chuck- It looks like Chuck will be returning in the fall. It was rumored that Chuck was going to fall victim to budget cuts over at NBC, but a strong show of support by fans convinced the Peacock to order 13 episodes with another 12 a possibility if the show performs well.
- Better Off Ted- I’m so glad that ABC decided to give this querky show a chance next
season. It really has been my favorite new show of the spring. - Scrubs- I have mixed feelings about this. Scrubs would be in my all time top 10 shows, but I thought the finale that was aired a few weeks ago when they thought the show was over was a wonderful way to wrap it all up. Now it only looks like Zac Braff and Sarah Chalke will only be around for 6 episodes each. I’m a little worried this is just a cash grab, although the intern shorts that ABC did were very funny so there is hope.
- Dollhouse- Everyone assumed this show was dead in the water after FOX first put it on Friday nights and then didn’t air the last episode (despite having the very talented and funny Felicia Day from The Guild in it). It turns out that the fans have gotten their way and we will see at least 13 episodes, and maybe Felicia’s epsiode as well.
There are still some that are on the bubble like NBC’s Kath & Kim and My Name Is Earl. Earl I might miss, but not Kath & Kim. My wife will be very upset to find out that Samantha Who has officially been cancelled. I was never a big watcher of that show, but when I did watch it I thought it was funny. I never thought the network gave it a fair shot. I guess as long as Chuck is coming back I should be thankful.
