Well the big news on last night season premiere of Saturday Night Live had nothing to do with Megan Fox or U2, or even the fact that it marked the 35 season of the show. The big news was that SNL rookie, Jenny
Slate dropped the F-Bomb during her first sketch, Biker Chick Chat, and censors didn’t catch it. What a way to make your debut, talk about being “not ready for prime time.” I actually think Jenny Slate is really funny, and I have no doubt that we will all look back on her first episode and laugh. She has the ability to be a great cast member.
SNL was good last night. It wasn’t great, but it was good. Of course the used Megan Fox as best they could. I don’t think it’s any surprise to anyone how attractive Megan Fox is. The problem is that is the end of her appeal. Once you get past her physical beauty she has about as much personality as acting ability as a corpse. From the very start of the show they had
Megan Fox pretty much playing two different characters, a stupid pretty girl, or Megan Fox. I’ve never seen so many sketches where the guest star played themselves. In reality Megan Fox wasn’t as bad as I described. SHe wasn’t great, but she did manage not to crack up in any sketches and she was able to pretty much pull off what she was supposed to.
I was even disappointed with the Digital Short. It just wasn’t really all that funny. I know that they only introduced one Digital Short, but would you count the Optimus Prime Roommate bit as a Digital SHort? I mean it was filmed and not live.
The funniest sketch of the night had to be Grady Wilson’s Burning Bedsheets. Kenan Thompson killed that sketch and I was laughing so hard that I woke my wife. Of course pretty much everything that Kristen Wiig did was perfect. She really carries this show. If it lost her and Andy Samberg I think it would just have to go off the air.
U2 was awesome, if not old looking. Can’t wait to see them in Dallas next month.
Next week we get Ryan Reynolds and Lady Gaga. I don’t want to spread rumors but there is one going around that at least one of them has a penis. I don’t know if I’ll be covering SNL all season long since I normally don’t write on the weekends, but if it is good then I’ll be covering it. Here’s hoping I’m writing a lot.

I didn’t learn about the f bomb until this morning, as I’m on the west coast and didn’t notice anything. But I wasn’t paying extra attention to that sketch due to the steam rising from my head — I was gritting my teeth as it became apparent that the ONLY running joke was the use of the word frickin! And it lost its humor about the fifth time it was used. How that made it to air, I don’t know, but I will say it echoed last season when they aired Bobby Moynihan’s waiter (”smells like pepper up in here”) on the season opener — so they have a habit of giving a character sketch to one of the new cast members, which is a nice spotlight for the new talent. But Moynihan’s was SO much funnier (although the crowd wasn’t into it, but that’s not always a sure stamp of humor).
Back to the frickin — It’s like in sketches about Bostonians they have to insert the term ‘wicked’ — yeah we KNOW they use the term, or at least they did in the 80s and 90s, it’s been a punchline for 10-15 years; it’s now hack, get over it. The same with two straight men making out — will SNL continue to work over this busted-out joke that only makes small town tourists gasp and laugh?
Back to the cast — apparently Casey Wilson was dropped? I have to say I’m not upset or surprised. Even seeing her in shorts on funny or die…she’s just not funny. I really wanted her to be and I gave her a chance — her cougar voice in “The Cougar’s Den” was funny…but alas, that was it. I hope she proves herself elsewhere.
I say all this with love — I am the biggest SNL fan ever and I ALWAYS want it to score. But it lets me down at times, of course. I’ll be there next time; I always am.
Btw, I thought the digital short with Will Forte was hilarious! You weren’t into it? But the Optimus Prime was lazy, you’re dead on there.

“It looks that you’ve got the on-key core of the situation for the moment. While many another seem to have dropped the primary point of the whole thing, when you put forward above is distinct plus dead on. Clearly I don”"t saying that I harmonize on every one of the points; even so, I must say that you have granted me reason to take some time to think numerous of the tips that I believed that I held up as strong opinions in that regards. Powerfully told, and it is now for someone like me to think a some more on a couple of your main ideas. All together it is clear I must compliment you for you have written many good points.”
