Well I’m glad we got through that nonsense from last week, and are back to the competition. Turns out the reason that the Dinner Party episode took place last week is Fabio is going to be getting his own show on Bravo. If you would have asked me before I ever saw this episode I could have told you who would have been the three on the top and who would have been the three on the bottom. Sadly at this point
there is a growing divide between the best and the worst.
Last night’s episode of Top Chef starts off with the chefs heading to the Venetian instead of the M Resort for their quick-fire Challenge. The challenge itself was pretty straight forward. Create breakfast-in-bed for Padma and British chef Nigella Lawson Robin and Brian end up in the bottom two while Kevin and Eli are in the top with Eli winning it all. Immunity is gone, so it’s time to draw knives for their elimination challenge.
Each of the chefs draws a name of a different hotel on the strip. Kevin gets the Mirage, Brian gets Mandalay Bay, Robin gets the Bellagio, Michael gets New York, New York, Eli gets Circus Circus, and Jen gets Excalibur. As someone who spends as much time in possible in Las Vegas, I’ve got to tell you that Eli and Jen got the short end of the stick. I wouldn’t stay at the Excalibur or Circus Circus for free. Each of the chefs heads off to their hotel to find inspiration for their dish, which they will be preparing for 175 people.
Just as expected, Michael, Brian, and Kevin’s dishes all go very well; while Robin, Eli, and Jen’s do not. Michael is named the winner, and Robin is sent to pack her knives and go.

Thoughts and Observations:
- Well Robin is gone. Of course it was a long time coming and I think everyone watching as well as the other chefs are glad that she won;t be around anymore. Watching her leave last night I realized just how often the had to remind everyone that “she deserved to be there.” I have to disagree. Her food or her cooking never proved that. I was really worried she was going to keep coming up next to worst and slide into the finals.
- After watching judge’s table last night I’m actually surprised that Robin is gone, relieved but surprised. I really think they disliked Eli’s dish the most from last night. At least they made it sound like they did. I’m glad that Eli get’s to stick around because he’s kind of wild card. I don’t think he can beat Kevin or either of the Voltaggio’s, but he’s fun to watch.
- What has happened to Jen? It’s getting kind of hard to watch. Like a train wreck in slow motion. At this point I’m pretty sure she doesn’t want to be there.
- Michael is such an ass. Is everyone else as sick of him as I am?
- I don’t think that the finals will be Kevin, Michal and Brian. One of these three will slip up somewhere in the next two episodes. I’m hoping Jen can buck up and knock off one of the Voltaggio brothers. As long as Kevin makes it to the finals I’ll be happy.
