To be completely honest I didn’t expect much from Jay Morh’s comedy Gary Unmarried. But I was was coming on Wednesday nights, and I didn’t have much else to watch so I gave it a shot. I have to say I
was plesently surprised. The show was funny and witty/ To top it off it really captured Jay Mohr’s brand of humor which I’ve always enjoyed. All that being said I still didn’t expect it to last past the first season. So I was once again pleasantly surprised when it was picked up for a second season.
The show revolved aound Gary, played by Jay Mohr who is recently divorced as he is trying to juggle his kids, his carreer, his ex-wife played by Paula Marshall and her new husband brilliantly portrayed by Ed Begley Jr., and his sexy new girlfriend played by Jamie King.
This DVD set is a pretty great set for the first season of a sitcom. It of course includes all the 20 of the episodes from the first season, and a decent amount of extras that are all worth viewing. My favorite of which is the short feature called Planet Begley in which eco-friendly (that’s an understatement) cast member Ed Begley Jr. brings all his eco-friendly nuttiness to the set. It reminds me a lot of Ed’s great reality TV show Living With Ed.
If you are a fan of this show are are interested in a good laugh, do yourself a favor and pick up Gary Unmarried: The Complete First Season.
