What seemed for some reason like a never-ending season, it has finally come to a close. All of the designers I really liked (Jesse, Amy, Jonathan) were sent packing weeks ago. So who did we end up with?

Mila, the woman who has driven me crazy all season as she recreates the same color-blocked geometric look every week.

Emilio, the man who once sent THIS down the runway and also the one who is so damn cocky it is disgusting. I don’t care if he is talented. His attitude has me against him.

How could you possibly win Project Runway after making that?!? Ugh.

And lastly, Seth Aaron, the man whose outfits are wild and colorful and but well-made. He is also so sweet, which at this point is why I am rooting for him. He has confidence mixed with humility, rather than a cockiness that would put other designers down.

The runway show, with guest judge Faith Hill, was awesome. I loved all the collections, even Mila’s. Everything was innovative and well-made.

The judges had kind words for everyone when talking to them and their MOTR models. While SA and Mila are getting complimented, the camera shoots to Emilio who looks beyond disgusted. If this guy wins, this is officially the worst season of this show. He is not personable at all. Mila’s line was great, but she could never win against either of these two.

And who is our winner? I couldn’t be happier and even let out a “YES!” when the announced it and he broke into tears. So cute.

He was adorable with his family and I am SO GLAD that he won. He was absolutely the most deserving in several ways.

On the Reunion, it showed that SA was nice because they didn’t ask him any questions. Meanwhile a bitter Emilio quested Nina how he didn’t win? Nina’s face was the same as mine. Really, you’re really asking this? Maya was weird for leaving. Jay was a big you-know-what when he was arguing with a model and told her she had bad teeth and thick legs. Really Jay? And as always, Anthony was as funny as ever. While I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with the season, I am more than pleased with the outcome. Congrats to Seth Aaron and I can’t wait to see more of his work!

We’re almost there folks. After this, only the 2 episode finale remains. So that means two designers will be auf-d tonight. Often, this doesn’t truly happen on PR and we have some fourth person tie-in. Let’s see what we’re in for.

The designers head off to the circus this week! They are to create a runway look that is inspired by the circus. They all seem to think this is awesome; I am already fearing elephants and trapeze artists. The greatest show on earth? Blech.

It’s a two-day challenge and the workroom honestly bores me now. They bicker, Tim is increasingly tough on them, and we worry about how their looks will come out. A lot of the color pallettes are the same with the exception of Anthony and his royal blue. I’m so happy he came back, even if undeservingly so.

Runway time! Cynthia Rowley is the guest judge. Why do I feel like she has been a judge before? Hmm….let’s get to it people!

Jay: Maybe it’s a little Michael Jackson but it looks awesome. Right on trend.

Mila: Gross. Hot tranny vampire. (Those were legitimately the four words that came to mind.)

Anthony: This dress is pretty but where is the circus?!

Emilio: I kind of like the mixed patterns. Well-made, even if I don’t love the front poof.

Seth Aaron: Definitely costume-y. If the pants weren’t so bright, it wouldn’t be bad. The jacket is at least very interesting….but Seth Aaron wants bright and interesting and costume-y. So, go him? And he is the best tailor this show has seen.

My picks for Bryant Park? Seth Aaron, Emilio, Jay

TOTALLY on the Seth Aaron bandwagon lately. Emilio is deserving even if he is sort of irritating sometimes. And I think Jay has a similar style to my own and find him to be very trendy.

Who’s really going? Emilio, Seth Aaron, and EITHER Jay or Mila

Throwdown time! I despise Mila and her work so much and love Jay so this is an easy battle for me. I am so sad for Anthony though. He definitely didn’t deserve to get to Bryant Park, but he wins for the sweetest contestant ever. And the funniest. And my favorite to quote. Awww. Next week, hometown visits. Yay finale!

So we’re down to seven and super close to Bryant Park. After last week’s interesting team challenge, I am sure the designers are looking forward to working by themselves. I am genuinely surprised a couple of these people are still in the competition, and likewise surprised that some people aren’t.

This week the challenge may just be my favorite one to date. The designers get to design their own fabric using the HP computers. LOTS of HP and Intel plugs this episode. But I love it because this software is awesome. They draw any pattern they like, and the next morning that pattern arrives in a roll of fabric. They also get to go to Mood for additional materials.

The designers are fretting. Blah blah blah. Mila’s work is strange and somebody kindly describes it as a ‘teepee’ or ‘legos’. HA! So true. Jonathan worries about his fabric being too transparent. Seth Aaron is making a million pieces. Emilio’s print reminds me of Marc Jacobs, but if he didn’t say it, I wouldn’t have known it was his name in print. Whatever, off to the runway where Vivienne Tam is our guest judge. (Lifetime only has the small pics available right now. Will add regular ones later!)

Seth Aaron: Now, I’m not about to wear this but I can recognize how great the design and execution is. And it all represents him. No matter what, every design could form a collection.

Jonathan: I think the dress is super adorable. I don’t really like how the jacket opens in the back though.

Maya: Mixed opinions on this one. I love the styling and the volume, but it sort of makes me think of Halloween, especially with the black and orange.

Emilio: I do not like her hair but I guess it goes with the jacket. I like the dress shape and the print looks good, despite not being able to read it.

Mila: Teepee. No other words.

Anthony: Kinda safe with the colors AND design. Also makes her look like she has broad shoulders which isn’t a good thing.

Jay: Very electric looking! I think each item would be a cool piece on its own.

Top 3: Seth Aaron, Maya, Emilio (Whaaat? Two weeks in a row. No way.)

Bottom 3: Anthony, Mila, Jonathan

I’m sad to see Anthony go. He had some great quotes this season. I am happy it wasn’t Jonathan though. The judges were WAYYY to hard on him. I wanted to punch Michael Kors for being so rude. Is Mila paying off the judges? Am I going to have rant next week also about how she mysteriously stays around? Ugh. Side note: On MOTR, I fell for Seth Aaron. Officially on his bandwagon because he was so nice and flattered that his model decided to forgo a DKNY shoot for him. Awww.

“We live not according to reason, but according to fashion.”

And then there were eight. The contestants totally fear the even numbers. This week their fear is appropriate because it’s a Team Challenge. The designs are to be inspired by four different locales in NYC: Upper East Side, Chinatown, Harlem, and the East Village. Ooohh I am already so curious. I have high hopes for an East Village outfit. Each team will create a day and night look with a total budget of $300. Four team leaders are selected from the button bag and then choose their partner. In reversed order, the teams choose their inspirations.

Anthony/Maya (Chinatown)

Amy/Jonathan (Upper East Side)

Emilio/Seth Aaron (Harlem)

Jay/Mila (East Village)

What would a team challenge be without some instant dislike. Emilio chooses Seth Aaron for strategy purposes because he knows Jay and Mila hate each other. I don’t blame Jay. The workroom is so typical this week with time struggles and Tim’s critiques. All I want to do is get to the show so let’s do it. Sitting in for Michael Kors is Calvin Klein’s Francisco Corta. Oh, and wow, straight from The Jersey Shore, our guest judge this week is model Molly Sims.

Anthony/Maya: The evening look is pretty and definitely looks Asian inspired. The day look has a cool top but the skirt is boring. These outfits are really dark. I feel like I should see more color when drawing inspiration from Chinatown.

Jay/Mila: I feel like these looks are so close to being good. Jay’s pants are well made but those thigh-side bulges are not attractive. The night look is pretty East Village, but I can’t deal with the black & white colorblocking anymore. It’s so geometric and repeated. Poor Jay. I feel your pain buddy.

Amy/Jonathan: Ah, two of my fave designers so far this season. I don’t mind the day looks but I feel like leggings are a little bit of a copout. I could probably make leggings if I tried and I’ve never sewed before. I’m almost more focused on Jonathan’s shorts here. Oh, the night look is cool and it looks like a skyscraper. Both looks are average, but not representative of the Upper East Side that much. I don’t really see Blair Waldorf strutting around in either of these. (Yes, Gossip Girl is what I base the Upper East Side on.)

Emilio/Seth Aaron: Okay, fine. These looks are GREAT. The evening look has the awesome exposed zipper but I would like a different material used on the dress so it’s not as pucker-y. The day look is awesome. I’ve been pretty hesitant on Seth Aaron, but he is moving on up in my mind. On another note, are these two drunk or are they in love? They are so happy explaining their garments and are like giddy. I have never seen Seth Aaron so excited.

I think Seth Aaron’s look is the best and I’m relatively indifferent to all the others. I can’t tell who will also be in the top this week. It turns out Emilio and Seth Aaron BOTH win this week. The bottom consists of Jay/Mila and Amy/Jonathan. Uh-oh. My three favorites are in the bottom with my one least favorite. Unfortunately, Amy is out this week. She has had some terrible, terrible designs but also some really great ones. It’s too bad and I can’t believe a couple people are still in the competition. That’s all for this week.

“We live not according to reason, but according to fashion.”

I don’t know why but I feel like this season is going very slow. Maybe because I don’t have one designer I really, really love. At this point, after Jesse’s elimination, my top 3 is Jay, Amy, and Jonathan. I’m pretty confident in this but I can’t help but think they are going to keep Seth Aaron around just because his point of view is so different. We will see…

Challenge: This week the designers choose one of the natural elements: earth, air, fire, and water, to base their design around. It is a one-day challenge and is loosely based around the NYC skyline and the elements seen there. There’s all this talk of like rain storms and tornadoes. Funny they are basing their looks upon natural disasters.

So we get to the workroom and this episode should be titled “The Jonathan Show”. It is almost funny how much they show him, when they normally don’t give him all that much exposure. It was like every five seconds he was on the screen talking. Talking about his design, talking about how no one thinks he’s a threat. Editors, we get the hint. Either he wins or loses this week, but he’s getting awholelotta attention either way. Seth Aaron and Amy are nervous, and normally they are two of the better designers! Ben’s model looks like she is wearing underwear over the pants. Very strange. We also get a weird segment of Ben calling his husband on the phone and talking about how he misses him. Editors?! For real??? What is with all the foreshadowing in this episode? You’re killing all the fun.

Guest judge this week is French designer Roland Mouret.

On to the show…

Maya: I love ruffles. So I love these sleeves and the look.

Jay: Very airy. Looks like she’s caught in the wind.

Ben: Yikes.

Anthony: Kind of a bad prom dress. And a skanky one.

Mila: Yay for no color-blocking. I don’t mind this look as her vest looks very mineral-y.

Jonathan: His model is perfect for this look. So pretty.

So after a week away we are a back with a new episode of Project Runway. Just from the episode title “Hard Wear”, I know where we’re headed this week. To the hardware store. I am wondering what came first: the design challenge or the punny title. My vote is on the title. Those people at Project Runway are so damn clever.

Challenge: Anyways, yes, the remaining ten designers are taking a trip to the local hardware store to see what they can find. They have $150 to create apparel AND an accessory.

While I’m not usually a fan out of the makeclothesoutofrandomjunk episodes, I am a little excited for this one, because they are all buying just that, random junk. Keys, sandpaper, copper, rope, trash bags. I do have to say nobody seems to be picking up similar stuff so I am looking forward to seeing a variety of runway looks. We get to the workroom and what do you know? Mila is doing some color-blocking treatment AGAIN. They are now joking about it. She makes me crazy. Amy is fanning the sandpaper and from the looks of it, she is going to redeem herself from last episode’s crazy fish pants. Jay is making these leather-looking pants out of trash bags. YESSS. I love him. Then we get to Emilio. The designers are making fun of him for making what appears to be a stripper costume. Oh wait, he ran out of material. It’s a bathing suit. An ugly one. Ugh.

(Two guest judges this week, Isabel Toledo and jewelry designer Stephen Webster). I already forgot they were making accessories. Why haven’t I seen any yet?!

Let’s get to the show already…

Mila: SUPER mod. Very shiny and I think therefore tacky. What in the world is it made of?

Jesse: Kinda superhero-ish. Kinda cool, but kinda reminds me of something Christopher Straub or Leanne Marshall made.

Jonathan: Cute! Looks like fabric to me! How adorable is the matching clutch?

Anthony: Forgettable. I hate lavender and I hate the belt. Sorry buddy.

Ben: Weird copper thing. Why does he do open backs so much?

Emilio: *speechless*….She might as well be naked.

Jay: LOVE him and these pants! And what is that belt made from because it’s awesome.

Seth Aaron: So futuristic but the hair matches it! Doesn’t matter though; he has immunity from last time.

Amy: I love this look! Creative and totally redeems her. She is still in my top 3 for Bryant Park.

Maya: The key necklace is cool, but is she trapped in a spiderweb?

My faves? Jonathan, Jay, Amy

Least faves? Mila, Anthony, Emilio

I am off from the judges this week but it only makes me conclude that they are insane. (i.e. Mila in the top? Jesse in the bottom?)

Top 3: Mila, Jay, Maya (Glad that Jay won. I think he’s definitely going to Bryant Park.)

Bottom 3: Jesse, Anthony, Emilio (Whaaaattt? I know this isn’t good, but not worth sending home!)

Why do the judges barely recognize Jonathan? I think he definitely deserved top 3. Are Mila’s designs always good and my personal dislike for her is preventing me from seeing that? And is my personal love for Jesse getting in the way here? While I didn’t think he was great, he didn’t deserve to go home. Back on Episode 4 I said that I have diagnosed Emilio with Christopher Straub syndrome. Meaning, even when you are well-deserving of going home, somehow you managed to escape it. (The only difference is I lovedddd Christopher and highly dislike Emilio.) I mean, how do you send THIS down the runway and stay in the game?!

Project Runway never ceases to amaze me.

As we saw in last week’s preview, this week is about children’s fashion. So eleven adorable little girls (ages 5 through 9) come out on stage and announce which designers they are working with. I can legitimately see fear in some of the designers’ faces. Uh oh.

Challenge: Create an age-appropriate, fashionable children’s look with $50. This seems too easy. And of course, soon enough, Tim announces the twist. The designers must create a companion look for their models with a budget of $100. This is essentially two one-day challenges, and of course, immunity is up for grabs!

This week, all the designers seem to be taking very different routes. Jesse is making a Madeline-inspired French outfit. Seth-Aaron is making a graphic hoodie. Mila is color-blocking (for the 236746th time). Yes, that many times. Amy is making these crazy petal pants. Maybe if they were going to be a skirt, and if they were made up of shades (instead of colors) then they wouldn’t be so…lively. They sort of remind of fish scales, rather than petals. That can’t be good and this is disappointing since I usually love Amy’s work. The designers are all getting fed up with Anthony’s incessant talking about Godknowswhat. His mother’s coughing? They find it so fascinating that they all take bets of how long he can shut his trap for. Almost fifteen minutes. Ironic when he starts complaining about how the children won’t stop talking. Karma honey.

We head to the runway to find out our guest judge is Tory Burch. They are making huge strides in their choices this season. Thankfully.

The girls are walking down the runway simultaneously with their models. Here we go.

Anthony: Forgettable. Not cohesive. Good thing he won last week.

Amy: These pants are CRAZY. The fish are swimming down the runway. I don’t get it.

Ben: I think he is underrated. I like his cute, simple girl look, matched up with a more sophisticated adult one. I also like the purple color palette.

Seth Aaron: The details are awesome. Seriously awesome. I want these pants.

Jesse: I like the gray/black/red combo. The little girl looks adorable.

Jonathan: Anything but forgettable. The petal look is starting to become jaded though.

Maya: Loving the yellow jacket on the girl. Cute, cohesive looks.

Mila: Boring. And she annoys me.

Emilio: The little girl’s dress is overtaking her, even if the adult’s is appealing.

Janeane: I like the leggings on the little girl. The looks are cohesive but not groundbreaking.

Jay: Save the best for last? I love the plum and black color scheme and want the shirt the adult is wearing. Loving him more and more each week.

While there were a couple looks that I thought were forgettable, I don’t think anyone was really THAT bad this week. Except for Amy but I know they would never eliminate her at this point.

My faves? Jesse, Seth Aaron, Jay

Least faves? Amy, Mila, Janeane

I am ALMOST right on the money this week. So close.

Top 3: Jesse, Seth Aaron, Jay (I would have picked Jay to win though.)

Bottom 3: Amy, Jonathan, Janeane

Janeane scored poorly two weeks in a row. Jonathan and Amy have done way to well so far to be sent home, so this was a predictable elimination. While Janeane definitely deserved to go home, Amy should count her blessings. Really hoping she gets back to normal next week. She needs to because the boys are seriously dominating this season. Five out of the six that have been auf’d were girls. Mila, watch out girl, and please, please stop color-blocking. Thanks.

“Life isn’t fair, so why the hell should Project Runway be?” (Ala Anthony)

Okay, here we go. Heidi tells us this week is about being “picture perfect”. The designers gather and go to the Marie Claire building, where editor-in-chief Joanna Coles joins them. The challenge is to (in one day, with $150) design an outfit for a celebrity to wear on the April cover of Marie Claire.

But who’s the celeb? PR’s own Heidi Klum. This should be interesting.

The designers are reminded that this issue will air in April. Let me say that I am SO excited for the trends this spring and am curious to see if the designers are on point, considering I’m not sure when this episode filmed. I’m hoping for flesh colors (even if this will be a magazine cover), military looks, and some good prints. What am I seeing so far? Lots of solid blues. Pretty, but is it trendy enough for a magazine cover?

Some points of note in the workroom: Seth Aaron is annoying. (I still associate him with a serial killer, so I agree with them on this one). Ben calls his dress “butterfly on acid”. Uhhh, what? Jay Nicolas has some nude colored dress that I am looking forward to. Anna has never made anything besides a dress and is working on some shorts. They don’t fit her model. Hysteria ensues.

It is only fitting that Joanna Coles is guest judging. Half the judges are from Marie Claire and one will wear the winning garment. I can almost feel the pressure FOR the designers.

Amy: Very springy. I love the flower appendage and the print. Figures she already has immunity.

Seth Aaron: Military pantsuit. Not for a cover, but on trend. And SO well-made.

Jesse: Cute, textured, simple.

Anna: SO boring. The vest and top don’t go together.

Anthony: LOVING the asymmetry (on the shoulder!).

Janeane: HATING the asymmetry (on the weird hem). And the dress has these wings. Dislike.

Mila: As much as I don’t want to like her clothes, I do. The color choice is off however.

Emilio: Reminds me of his first dress (that won), but I don’t love this one quite as much.

Jay Nicolas: ILOVETHISDRESS. The flesh colors. The drama. Awesome. But maybe more for a red carpet?

Jonathan: Yes, rompers are on trend, but this is kind of superhero-ish.

Maya: Forgettable. Definite downgrade from last week.

Ben: I love the blue. And the belt. And the back. This guy is underrated.

For the most part, the designs were impressive. There’s only two people who I think absolutely need to be sent home at this point, and that is Anna and Janeane.

My faves? Amy, Anthony, Jay Nicolas

Least faves? Anna, Janeane, Maya

But what did the judges think?

Top 3: Ben, Anthony, Emilio (aka Let’s Hear it for the Boys?)

I’m glad Anthony won; I bet he thinks PR is fair now!

Bottom 3: Anna, Janeane, Mila

No hard feelings for Anna. Her inexperience got to her and it was just her time to go.

Tomorrow morning is the PR finale runway show at NY Fashion Week. Apparently all the remaining designers are showing as an attempt at a guise? If I weren’t working, I’d totally go check that out.

Um, lastly, next week they are designing for children? Oh, I’m sorry, is this “Toddlers in Tiaras”? Definitely some ambivalence on this one. See ya then…

“We live not according to reason, but according to fashion.”

Let me start off by saying that as of this far in the season, I found all the designers to be rather talented, while the judges were way too nice, especially in comparison to last season. Even if I may not be ohsomadlyinlove with that many looks, I can appreciate the design elements and personal style. That being said, last week we saw a ridiculous amount of black on the runway, but this episode it will be red making its strut. Alright Tim, let’s see what you have in store for us this week.

Challenge: Create an evening gown for a real woman (aka not your pin thin model) who has been impacted by heart disease for a gala during NY Fashion Week. Since the challenge is being sponsored by Campbell’s, they are to find a way to represent the brand in their predominantly red design. I can see the soup cans coming down the aisle now. Red satin soup cans. Yikes… Despite the soupy challenge, the lucky winner gets a limited production of their dress sold online and gets to accompany their “model” to the event during Fashion Week. Maybe not as valuable as immunity, but equally as motivating.

During the workroom, I have to say I am pretty impressed. However, the camera is giving the same designers all the attention. Oh well. Let’s see what’s going on. The heart shaped draping of Maya’s dress looks beautiful. I’m loving her sketches. Anna is tracing the Campbell’s logo onto fabric. In pen. Curious to see where this ends up. Shoot over to Seth Aaron who is getting lots of camera time because his model wants Grecian draping, while that is SO not Seth Aaron. I’m not a huge fan of his, particularly because he reminds of Rudy Cooper, the serial killer on Season One of Dexter. Don’t you agree? Can’t shake that image out of my head. I’m noticing the abundance of designers wearing their measuring tape around their necks. Definitely not looking good for the designs if THAT is what I’m noticing. Uh oh.

Our guest judge this week is Georgina Chapman, ala Marchesa. Good choice.

As Heidi says, let’s start the show…

Jonathan: LOVE. Literally the first word that comes to mind. The ruffles and waist accentuation are perfect and I like that his dress isn’t fire engine red. I also love his hipster glasses. Adorable.

Emilio: Simple, unflattering, forgettable. Christopher Straub syndrome? Aka win-the-first-challenge-and-despite-producing -decent-looks-can’t-seem-to-get-back-on-top? (On a side note, I’m a hugeee Christopher fan, so I’ll give Emilio another shot.)

Maya: The pretty heart kind of now looks like a toga-curtainy thing. While it’s pretty, it’s a little disappointing from the awesome sweetheart dress she was sketching. I like her Campbell’s purse though!

Anthony: This vest looks like armor. Red fabric armor. Ew.

Amy: Super pretty. She continues to do well and has some personality to back it up.

Jesus: RHINESTONES? Really? On Project Runway? On second thought, when are rhinestones ever a good thing?

Anna: SOOO disappointed in this one. I usually love her looks but this one is so ridiculously unflattering to her model. And where is the highly anticipated tracing?!? (Note: I later discovered the tracing is subtly on the belt.)

Jay: The dress is okay, but the woman can’t walk in it. That says it all.

Jesse: My soft spot for Jesse is coming through. It must be the comb-over. I like the dress, and the IDEA of the jacket, even if it’s boxy.

Ben: JLo! Blake Lively! Right up their alley with the sky-high slit. The belt is Wonder Woman; the open back is gorgeous.

Mila: She wanted the Campbell’s stars on the dress but all I can think of is Macy’s. Unless her model is in some U.S.A. pageant, that is the only time I can ever see this (possibly) being worn.

Janeane: Pretty ruffle trim. Campbell flower detailing is cute. Slightly forgettable.

Seth Aaron: So far from Grecian and way more him. Glad he stuck to his guts on this one.

Overall, I was not as impressed as I thought I’d be. Onto the results…

My faves? Jonathan, Amy, Ben

Least faves? Jesus, Anna, Mila

Did the judges agree? Sort of…

Top 3: Maya, Amy, Mila (Really? Mila? Good thing this was NOT the winning design.)

Amy rightfully deserved to win. I think she’s going to Fashion Week, regardless of this week’s prize.

Bottom 3: Anna, Jesus, Jesse

Jesus, the rhinestones did you in. Sorry buddy. Hope you have fun bedazzling in your future.

Until next week…
